District M (strange name – phenomenal sushi)
I wondered about the name when I first heard it, but I can’t tell you how beautiful it is inside this Sandy Springs restaurant. And the sushi is phenomenal you guys! It might be a bit hard to find the first time, but just look for the glowing “M” in the front. You can valet or use the free parking in the deck in the back. Zafron (Persian dining never tasted so good as you find at this Sandy Springs spot)
Iranian born chef,PeterTeimori opened Zafron (Farsi for Saffron) in late 2014. It is thriving, especially with the Jewish community in Atlanta.Peter, witha degree in food science worked his way up in the Ritz-Carlton hotels and ended up opening 57 hotels across the world.He’s much more interested in sharing the cuisine he grew up with, with his customers. These include making Mirza Ghasemi, a smokey rich eggplantdish or his cardamom ice cream which uses salep, an orchid found only in the Middle East. It is ground into a powder that results in a stretchy and gummy texture that is divine.
Not only is there a really beautiful private room at Zafron in Sandy Springs for adult dinner birthday parties, but the design of the restaurant is gorgeous with bright copper topped tables (Teimori build these himself) and curved booths. Plus, there’s a sparkling corked ceiling that disguises itself as decor but keeps noise level low, so you can still enjoy conversations.
Try the smoked eggplant dish I mentioned above,Mirza Ghasemi and the Kashk Bademjoon, both quite different and a steal at just $8. The Soltan’s (yes that’s how it is spelled on the menu) feast is a must for meat lovers. But the lamb is juicy and tender too. Did you know before Zafron was a Persian restaurant, it was a bakery named Flavors? They’ve retained many of those specialty desserts and they are a treat.

Hammock’s Trading Company (laid back seafood restaurant in Sandy Springs)
Hammock’s restaurants is located on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. You’ll find excellent seafood options in a laid back atmosphere. Start with the barbecue oysters and get the trout salad and pumpkin soup if those are available (they rotate seasonal specialties). Under the Cork Tree (tapas restaurants in Sandy Springs)
Sandy Springs’ Under the Cork Tree is located in The Prado Shopping Center, is perfect for a date night with their dark woods and comfy couches. But the patio is perfect for warm nights and a glass of sangria or wine.The charcuterie and tapas are just one side of the menu.The second includes, salads, pastas, pizzas, entrees and paella. Oh and they have a ton of gluten free items as well. Love theMedjool Dates and Albondigas (veal and pork meatballs) as well as the crispy artichokes and the octopus. The GA Chapter Room (Sandy Springs speakeasy)
Forget everything you know about Taco Mac, the Georgia Chapter Room, is located in the basem*nt of the Sandy Springs Taco Mac and is owned by them, but the similarities end there. Sleek comfy leather chairs and quiet nooks for conversations are what you’ll find here. if you don’t find anything of interest on the Georgia Chapter Room’s draft menu, they’ve got a much larger list of by the bottle beers, including Stouts, Black IPAs and even a couple ciders. What’s that? You want to impress your friends? Order like a boss off the secret stash menu, which ranges from $20 to $30 each. Southern Bistro (traditional southern foods with a fun twist in Sandy Springs)
Oh you have visitors in town that want to experience “traditional southern food” You should take them to this underrated Sandy Springs restaurant. The restaurant is open for brunch, lunch and dinner.But brunch is my favorite time to visit Southern Bistro.The pancake fritters with ham and pineapple aioli were one of the best dishes!Visiting Southern Bistro for lunch or dinner?I’ve got some recs for that too. Alovely cauliflower and scallop soup is a delightful start to your meal, with pureed cauliflower and sweet buttery scallops.Another interesting starter would bethe collard green and ham egg rolls.Then move on to the slow-roasted chicken with apple rice pilaf or more traditional southern item, the Shrimp and Grits. Tupelo Honey Cafe (modern southern favorites)
Another southern favorite restaurant is Tupelo Honey Cafe.If you like chicken this is the spot for you.The wings at Tupelo Honey Cafe are wonderful.But so is the fried chicken swimming in their gravy. Jinya Ramen Bar (Sandy Springs cure for cold weather)
When it’s cold outside, don’t you just want a warm bowl of ramen? I know I do. And I’m sorry but those sad packages that are like a buck at the grocery don’t count! I’m talking about the kind that the broth has been slow cooked for hours. And that pasta is just the best for warming you up and making you feel satisfied. They have some lovely desserts too, so definitely check them out!

Genki Sushi (a reliable standard sushi restaurant in Sandy Springs and 2 other Atlanta locations)
Looking for a well established neighborhood favorite spot that you can come as you are and relax? That’s Genki sushi in Sandy Springs. Love their appetizers like a Hamachi Kama or the fried lobster. Check out some of their weekly specials. Here’s what I wrote about this Sandy Springs restaurant when I visited quite a while ago.
- Thursday is Ladies Night at Genki at The Prado, 5 to 10 p.m.– Half off all appetizers for the ladies all night. We also have a featured specialty co*cktail of the week, and your first one is on us. Live music begins at 6 p.m.
- Genki Hour Monday through Friday, 4 to 7 p.m.: after a hard day of work weekday evenings find a a bevy of food and drink specials that won’t break the bank.
Hearth Pizza in Sandy Springs has classic and unusual pizzas!
How come nobody ever told me how insanely delicious the Brussels Sprouts at Hearth Pizza Tavern are? I met a friend for lunch and was immediately intrigued by the Brussels Sprouts appetizer with parmesan and a balsamic port reduction. Hearth Pizza serves theirs with pancetta, but because I was dining with a vegetarian, we asked them to serve it sans pork.The salty parmesan mixing nicely with the sweet balsamic, we were both in heaven, gobbling up every bite of this dish, even though it was quite a serving for only two.
As far as the pizzas, I don’t get the impression Hearth Pizza is trying to win any pizza wars or go up against the likes of Antico or Ammazza. Instead, they quietly do their thing with a crowd of regulars from Sandy Springs residents and office workers. The restaurant is in the back corner of strip mall at the intersection of Roswell Road and Hammond Drive.
Their pizzas can be ordered in half or full sizes. Specialty pizzas inclue the New Haven Clam or Shrimp and Goat Cheese. Torn between the Mass Pike pizza with capicola, Italian sausage, cremini mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, and a dash of pesto or the Ring of Fire pizza with Garlic chili oil, chorizo salami, sliced cherry peppers, caramelized onions, cremini mushrooms, and cilantro, I settled on the Mass Pike. The Mass Pike was wonderful and what a great mix of toppings. I’ll definitely be back for the Ring of Fire soon.
Flower Child in Sandy Springs
If healthy eating is your new mantra, you don’t have to be slave to home cooking to eat healthy. Just head over to Flower Child in Sandy Springs and partake in their super healthy salads, bowls, soups and wraps. I’ve had items like the Vietnamese crunch salad with cabbage and quinoa and added a protein such as shrimp for a tasty yet guilt free option. The salads at Flower Child are HUGE, so I’d recommend getting an appetizer (their apps are tiny) to share and then get a salad or bowl. My favorite app is the tomato toast with a creamy goat cheese base, pesto and then a ripe tomato on top. The entire thing is just one piece of toast so, it is indulgent but not enough to make you feel any guilt. It is pricey at over $7, so your best bet is a salad or bowl (around $15 when you add protein) and a starter to share. Wine, beer and sangria are available for around eight bucks.
Protip: lots of families love eating here, so this is not the place for quiet solitude.
