GAINESVILLE, Fla. — It's win or go home for South Carolina baseball when they play Florida for Game 2 of the NCAA Tournament super regional.
The No. 15 seed Gameco*cks (42-20) face the No. 2 seed Gators (49-15) in Gainesville on Saturday (TBD, ESPN2) after falling 5-4 in Game 1 on Friday. If Florida wins Game 2, it will end South Carolina's season advance to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. If the Gameco*cks win, they will force an if-necessary game Sunday.
UPDATE: The start time has been delayed with inclement weather in the forecast, UF says. First pitch is now scheduled for 5:36 p.m. ET.

South Carolina is 54-52 all-time against Florida but 16-30 when playing in Gainesville. The Gameco*cks swept their 2023 regular-season series against the Gators at Founders Park, but Florida won the series 2-1 in 2022 and ended South Carolina's season with a 2-1 win in the SEC Tournament.
Junior right-hander Jack Mahoney will get the start for South Carolina. Mahoney has a 4.05 ERA with a 7-3 record, and he is 3-1 over his last four starts. Florida will throw right-handed ace Hurston Waldrep, who has a 4.54 ERA and an 8-3 record.

Weather forecast for South Carolina baseball vs Florida in NCAA super regional Game 2
The forecast in Gainesville shifted overnight to become far more favorable for baseball. The chance of rain and thunderstorms is roughly 50% between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.. That decreases to below 40% by 4 p.m. with partly cloudy skies predicted and temperatures in the mid-80s.

Ninth inning
South Carolina 9th: Braylen Wimmer infield single is the end of the day for Waldrep. Nobody out, runner on first. UF new pitcher is Brandon Neely.
Petry lines out to left field. Messina strikes out on a full count. LeCroy with a lazy fly to right field ends it.
FINAL: Florida 4, South Carolina 0
Gameco*cks season is over. Florida is heading to Omaha.
Florida 9th: Caglianone singles with two out, but nothing else for the Gators. Gameco*cks need four to tie, five to win.

South Carolina 7th: Gameco*cks retired in order. Hurston Waldrep is up to 11 strikeouts along with two hits and two walks allowed in seven innings. Gators lead 3-0.
Florida 7th: Rivera singles with two out but is later caught stealing. After review, he's out.
Sixth inning
South Carolina 6th: A Petry single is the second hit of the game for the Gameco*cks, but nothing else.
Florida 6th: Schiekofer walked and stole second, but no damage in the UF 6th.
Fifth inning
South Carolina 5th: Waldrep strikes out the side following a leadoff walk by Gavin Casas. South Carolina's lineup is currently dormant.
Florida 5th: Mahoney walks Langford and Caglianone, and Josh Rivera drives Langford in with an RBI single. Florida 3, South Carolina 0.
