Burglars took a big screen television, a video-cassette recorder, stereo equipment, a camera and a computer with accessories, said Will County sheriff police. The burglary apparently occurred in late July, but was not reported to police until Wednesday when the homeowners returned from an out-of-town trip. Vandalism was reported Monday to a Homer Township residence in the 14700 block of Smith Will County sheriffs police were called after someone noticed a door ajar at the home.

Police found furniture overturned inside the house. Food was thrown onto the kitchen floor and walls. A toolbox containing plumbing tools was stolen last weekend from a pickup truck parked in the 13800 block of Long Run Drive in Homer Township, said Will County sheriffs police. A married couple wanted for retail theft eluded Orland Park and Mokena police Friday night, only to end up overturning their pickup truck in unincorporated New Lenox Township and being admitted to a hospital. The chase began about 6:30 p.m. in Orland Park when a man stole meat from Dominick's Finer Foods, 151st Street and LaGrange Road, Orland Park Police Chief Tim McCarthy said. An Orland Park officer saw and stopped the couple in the described truck on southbound Wolf Road, but the man pulled away when a second squad car approached, McCarthy said.

The two police cars chased the truck southbound on Wolf Road for about a mile, reaching speeds of 60 mph in the 45 mph and 55 mph zones, then ended the chase when the man started to drive erratically and into northbound lanes, McCarthy said. The chase was called off "because of the heavy traffic and wet roads, and it was only a misdemeanor (crime), and the driver was driving erratically" and increasing his speed, McCarthy said. Orland Park police notified. Mokena police because the suspect was driving in that direction. Mokena police received calls from other drivers on Wolf Road about the erratic driving, and Mokena picked up the chase on Francis Road for a short time.

With no police in pursuit, the truck somehow overturned on Francis Road between Regan and Schoolhouse roads about 2 miles west of Wolf Road in unincorporated New Lenox Township less than a half-hour after the alleged theft, authorities said. It was unknown what caused the truck to over-turn. New Lenox Fire Protection District firefighters responded, and had to use airbags and hydraulic tools to lift the truck which was upside down and cut the passenger door to remove the couple, Assistant Fire Chief Gary Kantner said. They were taken to Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, where they were listed in fair condition late Friday night, a nursing supervisor said. McCarthy said Orland Park police likely would charge them with eluding police and retail theft.

A woman living in the 6700 block of West Park Lane reported Monday that over the past few weeks her lawn ornaments have been vandalized and stolen. The woman found a baby deer from her family of deer lawn ornaments smashed on the road outside her home three weeks ago, The following week she found the father deer's antlers had been broken off. Last weekend a large cement gargoyle was also stolen from the yard. A men's loden colored fishing vest was stolen from a federal express package left in the foyer of a condominium complex in the 7700 block of West Forest Hill Lane Monday. Banana peels were left on the kitchen table and a mountain bike was stolen from the garage. The family reported no signs of forced entry and finally suspected that acquaintances of their teen-age son had found the spare key to the house. Police later found that a neighbor had seen two juveniles in the house over the weekend. The boys told the neighbor they were friends with the teen-age son who lived in the home. A car was stolen from the a driveway in the 12400 block of Nashville Friday.

A Bridgeview man is being sought by police for allegedly soliciting a sexual act from a Palos Heights masseuse July 28. During a relaxation massage at the Keep In Touch therapeutic massage practice, 6600 W. College Drive, the man asked the masseuse if she "worked on troubled areas." When the woman asked him to explain what he meant, he asked her to perform a lewd act. After the masseuse asked the man to leave, he fled. The woman said she is willing to press charges if the man is found.

Police are seeking information about a hit and run accident at David Lane near Victoria about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday that left an 11-year-old boy with a sprained ankle. Police said the boy was riding his bike northbound on David Lane when an older model blue or light gray car sped around the corner and clipped the rear end of the bike and then fled. The boy was thrown to the ground and injured. Anyone with information is asked to call the Oak Forest Police.

Two men and two juveniles were charged Thursday with residential burglary in connection with the break-in of a house in the 16400 block of Roy Street July 29. Michael Grodin, 19, 237 Davis Bolingbrook and Richard Rowan, 19, 13521 LeClaire Crestwood and a 15 year-old Markham girl and a 16-year-old Crestwood boy were charged with burglary, police said. Some of the stolen items, which included jewelry, a compact disc player discs and a videocas-sette recorder, were recovered and returned, police said. A car phone and sunglasses were stolen from a car in the 5900 block of El Morro Lane between Wednesday and Thursday. Michael Cichowicz, 21, 17205 Ashwood Orland Park, was charged with drunken driving and improper lane use after police found him asleep at the wheel of his running car at Victoria Drive and Brianne Lane Wednesday.

He asked to speak with them, but continued on his way when they declined. Two air conditioners were stolen from each of two homes under construction in the 8900 block of Golden Pheasant and the 17900 block of Flamingo Road in the early morning of Aug. 2.

A ring and bracelet were stolen from a dresser in a home in the 16500 block of co*ckwood Trail between June 16 and July 5. Two women were slightly injured and a garage door was dented in the evening of Aug. 1 when a rock was launched into a gathering of several neighbors in a driveway in the 7500 block of Nottingham Drive. A 24-year-old Orland Park man was killed early Thursday when he was struck by a van while riding his bike in the 14500 block of Harlem Avenue.
